XTMPI Social Emotional Public Speaking

Last year, as a 15 to 16 year old girl, I decided to participate in the Public Speaking course mostly because I wanted to be able to speak English comfortable. I was always shy to speak in front of other people. I used to stand in front of a mirror and talk for hours to myself but that was different. Right from the first lesson I saw that it is a very pleasant lesson ans through a lot of activities I learnt I'm going to find useful later in my life.

I found myself able to understand my emotions and communicate them with others. This way it was easier to solve many problems I faced during this year, and the year that followed.

Through an exciting lesson where we had to stand on chairs and desks I've learnt the importance of looking at things through different perspectives. Both to understand other's opinion and search for new information.

As Public Speakers we had to present what we've done until that time as a rehearsal for our final show at Pattihio later on. Our monologues we finalized in the bus as we were heading to the hotel. Of course we stayed up until 2 o'clock working on the script with Mrs. Xenia. Over a day the play was ready to be presented. And thus we learnt to perform well in a limited time.

As a dancer I had the chance to participate in a show and perform a role before. BUT this time it was different. The most difficult part throughout the year was the final show in Pattihio. I am not a professional actress but still I got on stage and said my monologue without any problem. I also had the chance to dance a solo in front of 750 people. That was a chance in a lifetime for me. And I thank Mrs. Xenia for giving me the chance to do it. AND for making me realize that on the particular day I shouldn't be doing it for myself but for all those people sitting there without a voice, longing to be heard.
